My journey into the world of online dating began innocently enough. I was single, I was bored, and I was starting to think that I might be the only person in New York City who had never been on a date. So, I created a profile on Match.com and started browsing.
At first, it was all fun and games. I went on a few dates with some nice guys, and I even had a few laughs. But then, things started to get weird.
There was the guy who told me he was a doctor, but couldn't spell "stethoscope." The guy who claimed to be a lawyer, but didn't know the difference between a tort and a contract. And the guy who said he was a model, but looked more like a thumb.
But it wasn't just the weirdos that I had to deal with. There were also the creeps. The guys who sent me unsolicited dick pics. The guys who asked me to meet them for sex in public places. And the guys who threatened to kill me if I didn't go out with them.
It was all starting to get a little too much. I was feeling overwhelmed, and I was starting to think that maybe online dating wasn't for me.
But then, I met him. He was funny, he was smart, and he was kind. He was everything I had ever wanted in a man. And he had never dressed up as a giant chicken.
We went on a few dates, and I started to fall for him. But then, one day, he disappeared. He stopped calling, he stopped texting, and he stopped emailing. I was devastated.
I didn't know what to do. I had finally found the man of my dreams, and then he had just vanished. I was heartbroken.
But then, one day, I got an email from him. He said that he had been in a car accident, and that he had been in a coma. He said that he had just woken up, and that he was so sorry for disappearing.
I was overjoyed. I couldn't believe that he was alive. I immediately called him, and we started talking again.
We've been together ever since. And even though we've had our ups and downs, I know that he's the one for me. He's the man I'm going to spend the rest of my life with. And it all started with a simple online dating profile.
If you're thinking about trying online dating, I say go for it. Just be prepared for the weird, the wonderful, and the downright terrifying.
